CLSC Young
Readers Medallion

The CLSC Young Readers medallion rewards young Chautauquans who read 16 books, one of which being Jeffrey Simpson's Chautauqua: An American Utopia, from the program's historic list of more than 150 titles.

There is no formal ceremony; CLSC Veranda staff will present a medallion to readers 16 years old and under upon completion and will provide support for the "graduated" Young Readers as they transition into reading more adult-oriented CLSC selections. The medallion is made possible by a generous donation from the John H. Bliss Memorial Fund, held with the Chautauqua Foundation, and the support of the CLSC Class of 2002.

Children's librarians: If you would like a complimentary copy of Chautauqua: An American Utopia so your children can complete the CLSC Young Readers program, please contact Chautauqua's Department of Education and Youth Services at (716) 357-6310.

CLSC / Young Readers

The CLSC Young Readers program encourages the enjoyment of good reading. The books have been chosen for their quality, the variety of styles and subjects, and their appeal to young adult readers. A special program is offered at 4:15 p.m. each Wednesday. Book selections and program information are fully described in the Young Readers brochure available in-season at the CLSC Veranda.
