CLSC / Young Readers
The CLSC Young Readers program encourages the enjoyment of good reading. The books have been chosen for their quality, the variety of styles and subjects, and their appeal to young adult readers. A special program is offered at 4:15 p.m. each Wednesday. Book selections and program information are fully described in the Young Readers brochure available in-season at the CLSC Veranda.

The One and Only Ivan

do they fit together? How can scientist tell when
these places are in trouble? Can animals and plants
really work together? Learn about this all while
meeting some animal friends from different biomes.
Week Three, July 10
Lincoln’s Last Days

Come and learn about the music of the Civil War.
The Union Volunteers Fife and Drum Corps, based in
Western New York, will present authentic field music
and will present a slide show of historic Civil War
musicians.
Week Four, July 17
The Grimm Legacy

Grimms Fairytales have been bewitching young
readers for many years. These stories are now
read and loved in more than 160 languages. Join
storyteller Kaye Lindauer on a mysterious, magical
journey as she brings some of the Grimm Fairytales
to life. Feel free to write your own fairytale or bring
one of your favorites to share.

The Young Reader’s Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet

the other Wes Moore.

Come meet author Mary Sullivan as she shares
thoughts on her book in regard to the complexity
of war. She will answer questions about her book as
well as past and future projects.
Week Eight, August 14
Ungifted
by Gordon Korman
4:15 p.m. Hurlbut Church Room 1
Let’s discover the engineer in you and learn how
to bring a Lego set to life. Learn about moveable
parts – including gears, wheels, motors, touch
sensors, and optical sensors – as we hook the set to
a computer and control it.

What’s it like to face an illness of a loved one? How
do you keep a family in balance during such difficult
times? How do siblings not feel forgotten? How can
you live the life you want when you are facing illness?
CLSC author Doron Weber will share his story of the
illness and death of his son and explore
