Kenneth Miller

Kenneth Miller is a professor
of biology at Brown University and the author of Finding Darwin's
God: A Scientist's Search for Common Ground Between God and Evolution,
published in 1999 and re-issued with a "P.S" in 2007.
His newest book, Only a Theory: Evolution and the Battle for
America's Soul, will be published next June. A nationally recognized
expert on evolution, Dr. Miller testified in the controversial
2005 trial, Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District, involving
the teaching of intelligent design in public schools in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Miller's research work on
cell membrane structure and function has produced more than 50
scientific papers and reviews in leading journals, including
CELL, Nature, and Scientific American. He is also the coauthor,
with Joseph S. Levine, of four different high school and college
biology textbooks which are used by millions of students nationwide.
He has received 5 major teaching awards. In 2007 he was named
a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science
and received the Exploratorium's Outstanding Educator Award.
A popular guest on national
news programs, his appearance on Comedy Central's "The Colbert
Report" in 2006 earned him newfound popularity. "
Nothing I've ever done in my whole scientific career has gained
me as much credibility among my students as appearing on 'The
Colbert Report," he said. |
