Andrew Young

Andrew Young has served as United
States Ambassador to the United Nations and as co-chair of the
Atlanta Committee for the Centennial Olympic Games. He served
two terms as mayor of Atlanta, one of the fastest growing cities
in the world, was elected Congressman three times, and is a leading
figure in the civil rights movement. He currently serves on the
Boards of several Fortune 500 companies and was appointed by
President Bill Clinton to Chair the $100-million Southern Africa
Enterprise Development Fund.
Currently, Amb. Young is co-founding
principal and co-chairman of GoodWorks International, a global
advisory firm dedicated to fostering long-term economic development
in Africa and the Caribbean by creating successful business partnerships
between private sector corporations and decision-makers in those
emerging markets.
He serves on the National Security
Council Advisory Board, and remains active in numerous charitable
activities and organizations. He is the recipient of numerous
awards and honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom,
the French Legion of Honor, the Bishop Walker Humanitarian Award
and over 60 honorary degrees from prestigious universities around
the world.
Amb. Young is the author of
two books: A Way Out of No Way, a spiritual memoir published
in 1994, and An Easy Burden, reflections on the evolution of
the Civil Rights Movement, published in 1996. |
