Smith Memorial Library anchors the southern end of Bestor Plaza inside the grounds of Chautauqua Institution. The library offers several services throughout the year to the community, including InterLibrary Loan, Public Access Internet computers, a WiFi hotspot and wireless printing. Smith Library is a member of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System. The library’s mission is to enrich the lives of those who are residing, visiting or employed at Chautauqua Institution or in the surrounding area, and thereby to enrich the community; to do so by providing access to materials in a variety of formats, as well as other appropriate library services, for the purposes of education, intellectual stimulation, and pleasure; to do so within the framework of the accepted principles of the library profession.
