Steve Odland
Steve Odland is chairman, president
and chief executive officer of AutoZone, Inc., the nation's largest
auto parts and accessories retailer with over $5B in sales and
45,000 employees across the U.S. and Mexico. AutoZone has been
public since 1991 and an S&P 500 component since 1996. AutoZone
trades on the NYSE under the symbol AZO.
Odland came to AutoZone in January
2001 from Ahold, Inc., a global supermarket operator where he
last served as chief operating officer for Ahold USA. Prior to
that he was president & CEO of multi-billion dollar Tops
Markets, Inc., an Ahold operating company in the northeast part
of the U.S. with grocery, drug and convenience store chains.
Previously, Odland served as
president of the food service division of Sara Lee Bakery. Prior
to that, he spent sixteen years with the Quaker Oats Company
in a variety of positions including VP/general manager of Quaker
Oatmeal Cereals division, VP strategic development for International
Foods (Europe, Latin America, Asia) and VP marketing, Golden
Grain Division. Earlier at Quaker he worked in a variety of brand
management positions.
Odland has served as a member
of the board of directors of the following companies and organizations:
Peapod, Inc. then a NASDAQ-traded internet grocery company; Royal
Ahold-Perlis Plantations Berhad (Malaysia joint venture); Royal
Ahold-Kerry PTE Ltd. (Singapore joint venture); International
Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA); Buffalo Niagara
Partnership; and Memphis Tomorrow.
Odland holds a Masters in management
degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern
University, and a bachelor of business administration degree
from the University of Notre Dame.
