Youth Activites

Youth Tennis
Chautauqua Tennis Center provides an outstanding junior development program offering group instruction for ages 4–18 and all skill levels. Details and schedules are available at the tennis pro shop. Racquets may be borrowed at no charge during the junior programs. Private lessons and junior memberships are also available.

Youth Swimming
The pool at the Turner Community Center will also be open daily throughout the summer for lap swimming, open family swims and classes or special events.

Youth Sailing
The Chautauqua Sailing Department presents a summer-long curriculum of sailing courses for youth ages 8 and up, including Beginner Optimist Sailing, 420 Sailing, Intermediate Sailing, and Saturday morning races. Registration is through the Special Studies program. Early registration is strongly recommended. Private lessons may also be arranged.

Youth Activites Center
Junior high and high school students are invited to visit the Youth Activities Center (YAC), located on the south lakefront at Heinz Beach. The YAC features a friendly staff, music, television, games, a snack bar, table tennis and pool tables. Weekly "Yactivities" include tournaments, food specials, and the popular weekly dances. There is no membership fee. The YAC is open Monday through Friday and all are welcome.


Recreation


Located on the shores of beautiful Chautauqua Lake in southwestern New York, Chautauqua offers a variety of recreational opportunities that further enrich the mind, body and spirit and bring together families and the larger community.

The Chautauqua Golf Club offers 36 championship holes in an overall golfing experience that invites the novice but also challenges the experienced player. Chautauqua Tennis Center, opened in 2004, boasts eight, state-of-the-art, fast-dry courts, including two illuminated for night play. Chautauqua Health and Fitness is a modern, full-service exercise and strength training facility at two sites on the Institution grounds. Turner Community Center is open year-round with an indoor swimming pool. The John R. Turney Sailing Center is home to the Chautauqua Sailing Department, offering boat rentals and presenting a curriculum of one-week sailing courses for all ages skill levels. Chautauqua Lake provides the setting for four public beaches, including the popular Children’s Beach. And Chautauqua Sports Club offers a range of recreational opportunities, from lawn bowling to shuffleboard, kayak rentals and the annual Old First Night Run/Walk/Swim held every August.
