Chautauqua Literary Arts Friends, formerly known as Chautauqua Readers & Writers, is a volunteer network of writers and readers who work year-round on behalf of the literary arts at Chautauqua. During the nine-week summer program, the Friends provide support to the Writers’ Center, sponsor weekly opportunities for writers to present their work and meet other writers and readers, and organize contests and other special events. The group also promotes Chautauqua, the Institution’s nationally recognized literary journal that has published numerous acclaimed authors, including a winner of the prestigious Pushcart Prize.
