The Chautauqua Tennis Center, which opened in June 2004, is located directly behind the Turner Community Center on Route 394 and boasts eight state-of-the-art, fast-dry courts. Using the patented "Hydro-Grid" system, the clay-like playing surface is kept uniformly moist by a sub-surface irrigation system. The result is a court that is consistent, gives a true bounce, is gentle on the feet and legs of players, and also drains exceptionally well, allowing for a quick return to play even after heavy rain. Two of the new courts are illuminated for night play. The new tennis center replaces the eight courts formerly located at the Main Gate.

The American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) made the Chautauqua Tennis Center the recipient of their 2004 Outstanding Tennis Facility Award. This award is presented in recognition of excellence in design and construction and is given annually, in conjunction with Racquet Sports magazine, to a select group of facilities nationwide. Projects are reviewed and critiqued by a panel of ten independent judges.

The general contractor for the Chautauqua Tennis Center was STC Contracting in Springville, NY. The court builder was Welch Tennis Courts, Inc. of Sun City, Florida.

Pro Shop

The tennis center's pro shop is open 7 a.m.-10 p.m.daily from June 25-August 28. During the spring and fall, limited hours are maintained at the pro shop, with additional support provided by the fitness center staff in the Turner Community Center. All players must check-in at the pro shop before playing. Racquet- stringing may be arranged, and balls, grips, water and Gatorade are available for sale. We are a distributor of Prince tennis products. Tournament and junior development registration forms can be obtained at the pro shop, and private lessons can be arranged.
